Over the course of my career, I have had the absolute privilege of making several trips onto the mission field to document real life in it’s rawest form.
Endeavors like this are always humbling. A powerful reminder of the blessings and wealth we enjoy on a daily basis here in the United States. And a solid kick in the seat to remember to be thankful.
A few years ago I was included on a team that filmed an amazing story in Kibera Slum (Nairobi) & Naivasha, Kenya in Africa.
Jane’s Story is powerful narrative that brought the film crew to tears on many occasions and will bring you to tears as well. I will never forget the solemn meeting we had at the end of a day of filming realizing we could help rescue 3 girls out of an utterly destitute situation and bring them to Light of Hope to have food, clothes, schooling, friendship and a fresh start.
These kinds of videos are the best work in my career. Not necessarily the technology we used, or the execution of the video, but the gut wrenching, life changing, impactful moments had on location with hungry, dirty kids who have an arresting, unstoppable joy.
I will never forget the moments learning their language, singing, laughing and crying with them as they experience deeply profound and life altering moments. I will never be the same again. It is truly a holy place.
